Obituary for Rolf Habermann

Rolf  Habermann
The Man from Danzig Rolf Gunter Habermann, 89, of Roseland, died on November 2, 2017.
Memorial visiting hours will be on Sunday, December 3, 2017 from 12 pm - 3 pm at Farmer Funeral Home, 45 Roseland Avenue, Roseland, NJ. A Memorial Service will begin at 2:30 pm in the funeral home. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.farmerfuneral.com .
Rolf was born in Danzig, Germany. He came to America some 60 years ago as a stone mason and later became the proud owner of Master Design Fireplaces creating some of the most beautiful stone and brick fireplaces in New Jersey and New York.
Rolf was the chosen Cosmos team photographer at Giants Stadium in 1977, when the New York Cosmos purchased fellow landsman and soccer star Franz Beckenbauer and Pele from Brazil. His team photo was the official Cosmos photo along with that of Pele on the cover of the Latin edition of Time Magazine. In 2005, he was the also the official photographer and mascot for the New Jersey Senior Softball Team. He was also a photographer for the NJ Law Journal, Mizlou TV and Manhattan Cable TV.
For 30 years, Rolf drove his 1959 190SL red Mercedes Benz convertible in the Steuben Day Parade in New York City and was known as The Man from Danzig.
Pre-deceased by his siblings, Werner U. Habermann and Irmgard Helena.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 39 years, Grange Rutan Habermann; daughters, Debbie and Grange and son Chris; along with grandchildren, Pamela A. and David A. Ligieri, Jr.; his brother, Hans S. Habermann; step-sister, Erika Burkhardt; sister in-law, Marlene Habermann. Also surviving are many nieces, nephews and extended relatives.
Germany was his homeland but Grange and America were his dream, and he lived that dream with passion and love every day.
