Obituary for Michael Tufariello

Michael Tufariello
Michael Tufariello
Retired Entrepreneur, United States Navy Veteran, patriarch of a large, loving family

Michael Daniel Tufariello, 91, of Roseland, NJ, died peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, March 19th, 2018.

Born at his parents'' home in Newark, NJ, in 1926, Michael lived a full and loving life. Growing up, he worked on his father''s ice truck delivering large blocks of ice to neighbors to use in the days before refrigerators were common. By age 20, he graduated Radio Material School at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C., and began service in the United States Navy onboard the USS Missouri. He later enrolled at Newark College of Engineering, but his studies were cut short when his father passed away suddenly. Michael returned home to take care of his 3 younger siblings, and decided to start his own business. Building on his study and passion of electronics, Michael focused his new business, FarielTV, on the then-infant field of televisions, and his nickname Mike TV was born.

Michael was the son of the late Felice Tufariello and Laura Conte Tufariello, and brother of the late Ann Stumpe, the late Grace Costa, and Thomas Tufariello, of Washington, D.C.

Michael was married to his loving wife, the late Marie Tufariello, for 63 years. The late couple is survived by their 5 children and 7 grandchildren: daughter Laura Tufariello of Manhattan, NY; daughter Linda Terranova of West Caldwell, NJ, her husband Mark, and their children B. Michael, and Madilyn; daughter Lisa Paragano of Mendham, NJ, her husband Dominick, and their children Dominick, Marissa, and Nazario Paragano; son Michael Tufariello of Mendham, NJ, his wife Dominique, and their children Angelina, and Ella Marie; and son James Tufariello of Roseland, NJ. Michael also leaves behind some very special friends, many of whom he had known since childhood.

He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews, whom he and Marie would often bring together during their annual Fourth of July Party.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate Michael''s life at a visitation on Thursday, March 22nd, from 4:00pm-8:00pm, at Farmer Funeral Home (45 Roseland Avenue, Roseland, NJ; farmerfuneral.com)

A funeral mass will be offered on Friday, March 23rd at 10 am at the church Michael and Marie attended for over 50 years, Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church (28 Livingston Avenue, Roseland, NJ, 07068). Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, (225 Ridgedale Avenue, East Hanover, NJ 07936.)

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the Foundation for Morristown Medical Center, directed to the Palliative Care/Hospice Unit (475 South Street, Morristown, NJ, 07960).
